In the Colony Game, each team became a different tribe. This is the Magpie team, otherwise known as the warlike Incas. Each tribe had to build a camp, make a fire, and prepare food and drink, but first they had to trade with each other for raw materials. To start with, the Incas only had firewood, canvas and spoons. They took their goods to the Trading Post, otherwise known as the climbing frame, and did deals with the other tribes to obtain poles, rope, cups, cocoa, milk, marshmallows, matches and a saucepan.
Back at camp, the team divided into smaller groups. One group set about building a shelter while another group went to gather firewood. The last group prepared a song or dance to impress the Water Native, hiding in the woods, in the hope of being given some water.
Then, they all sat around the fire, cooked cocoa and toasted marshmallows.
