Colony Game

In the Colony Game, each team became a different tribe. This is the Magpie team, otherwise known as the warlike Incas. Each tribe had to build a camp, make a fire, and prepare food and drink, but first they had to trade with each other for raw materials. To start with, the Incas only had firewood, canvas and spoons. They took their goods to the Trading Post, otherwise known as the climbing frame, and did deals with the other tribes to obtain poles, rope, cups, cocoa, milk, marshmallows, matches and a saucepan.
Back at camp, the team divided into smaller groups. One group set about building a shelter while another group went to gather firewood. The last group prepared a song or dance to impress the Water Native, hiding in the woods, in the hope of being given some water.
Then, they all sat around the fire, cooked cocoa and toasted marshmallows.

Messing around

Today we've been messing around on the river.

And we've been messing around up tall poles.

The weather is still beautiful. We can't believe our luck. Some groups tried the long zip wire today. That was amazing. And we all made pizzas in the clay oven today, with toppings picked fresh from the vegetable garden.

Nuclear plant

This was the most fantastic bit of teamwork I've seen for a long time. 12 people working together, talking to each other, and more importantly listening, to tackle a series of really tricky problems. Well down Squirrels!

Day 2

We made it through the first night. Some too hot. Some too cold. Some snoring. Some falling out of bed. But a good night's sleep for most, and plenty of cereal and toast for breakfast. 10 hours of activities to pack into today.

Going through the car wash.

Jake doesn't look too happy about going through the carwash, but I think he enjoyed it really. This was part of the Assault Course, and we are really pleased that by working together we managed to complete the course in only 7 minutes.

Birthday Boy

It was Ritchie's birthday today, and the chef made him a cake. Happy Birthday Ritchie! Hope you enjoyed spending it with all your mates at Mill On The Brue.

First Day

Relaxing on the balcony at the end of an exciting first afternoon, watching children enjoying a bit of free time on the fairway. We arrived at 11:00 and started our activities after lunch. So far, between us, we've tried tunnelling, climbing, zip wiring and rifle shooting. Some of us have tickled a pig.

We're here.

Sarah and Jake here. We have written a post but it disappeared into mid-air. We are disappointed. We have had a lovely day and will tell you more about it tomorrow. Bye for now,
